Michael Abbatiello (BFA ’13) has been dancing at Monroe Dance Academy for the past 15 years in the disciplines of ballet, modern, jazz, lyrical, tap, acrobatics and hip-hop. He began his dance training with Judy Abbatiello and Dana Perez-Rodriguez and for the last 5 years has studied modern and ballet with Alli Ruszkowski and Kendra Portier. He has been performing with the dance company at MDA for 6 years and has had the opportunity to dance in such venues as the Rich Forum and the Palace Theater in Stamford, CT and SUNY Purchase in a benefit for Dancers Responding to AIDS. Most recently he performed in New York City’s Times Square for DRA and in The Joyce Theatre. In high school, he performed in such shows as Redhead (featured male dancer), Treasure Island (Nathaniel Crisp) and Footloose (Williard). As a freshman, he has choreographed a piece that has been selected to be performed and has been asked to be a participant of the 2010 American College Dance Festival in Athens, Ohio. He looks forward to working rigorously toward a BFA in Dance and Film Production at The Ohio State University. |
