Elaine Berman’s dance training started with Worthington Civil Ballet and Jazz under the artistic director, Barbara Burrows. She then transferred to BalletMet in Columbus, where she danced with Catherine Yoshimura, Susan Draminski, Maria Glimcher, and Adam Hundt. BalletMet gave her the Xavior Award, assisting her in paying for a year’s worth of dance training. Elaine later attended Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp’s summer intensive program with Jefferson Baum in Michigan. Blue Lake accepted Elaine into the international program where she traveled in a small company to France and Germany with BalletMet dancers, Jimmy and Sonia Orante. In Columbus, she performed with Vaud-Villities Production. She also danced for Dublin Dance’s Miracle Dancer, a fundraiser for women with cancer. As well as dancing outside of school, Elain was captain of Bishop Watterson High school’s dance team, led by coach, Liz O’Dorisio. She also was involved in the musical productions and played such roles as Chacha DiGregorio from Grease, and Sarah Brown from Guys and Dolls. Currently, Elaine is majoring in dance at The Ohio State Universitywhere she hopes to pursue choreography.
