Emmeline Gonzalez-Beban began her dance training as a young child at a local studio in Mountain View, CA. At the age of 12, she began more serious training in modern and ballet (as well as some training in Jazz, Tap, and hip hop) after joining Teen Dance Company of the Bay Area. As a company member, she trained with Mark Foehringer, Brian Fisher, Heather Cooper, and Darlene Castro-Easterling and had the opportunity to work with choreographers such as Carlos Jones, Cindy Welik-Salgado, Chloe Arnold, Bret Easterling, Kara Davis, and KT Nelson. She was also able to teach and choreograph for Mountain View High School's student-run dance program and for Explore!, a summer program for underprivileged youth in East San Jose. Emmeline has also trained in Ballet Folklorico (Mexicano) with Elena Robles for 14 years as a member of Folklorico Nacional Mexicano Juvenil (San Jose). In 2010, she was awarded by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts as a YoungArts scholar in the World Dance category for traditional Jarocho dance (of Vera Cruz). Emmeline is currently working on her BFA in dance at The Ohio State University (class of 2014). She is a National Hispanic Scholar and lifetime member of the California Scholarship Federation as well as a recipient of the National Buckeye, Morrill Prominence, Distinguished Merit and OSU Dance Scholarships. |
